Monday Funday
Most people dread Monday mornings—so much so that several songs have been written about the day: Manic Monday – The Bangles Monday, Monday – The Mamas & Papas Rainy Days and Mondays – The Carpenters But at Fun Programs By Stacy (FPBS), we’ve decided to flip that gloomy narrative and declare: Monday is Funday!

Most people dread Monday mornings—so much so that several songs have been written about the day:
- Manic Monday – The Bangles
- Monday, Monday – The Mamas & Papas
- Rainy Days and Mondays – The Carpenters
But at Fun Programs By Stacy (FPBS), we’ve decided to flip that gloomy narrative and declare: Monday is Funday!
On September 22, the very first day of fall, FPBS kicked off Monday Funday with smoothies and pickleball at Van Dyke Park. The following week, we hosted Walk, Sip, and Read: a refreshing stroll along the W & OD Trail followed by fun drinks at Caffè Amouri while reading a short story from What Do You Want On Your Pancakes?
A little movement and meaningful time with friends can transform any Monday into something to look forward to. That’s the goal of FPBS—turning Mondays into opportunities for joy, connection, and community.
The first Monday of each month brings something extra special: Cook, Share, Care. These sessions combine fun with philanthropy. Our upcoming one on October 6 will feature making breakfast casseroles for The Lamb Center, a daytime drop-in shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness in Fairfax. We’ll also prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for The Embry Rucker Community Shelter, which provides safe emergency housing. At the end of class, we’ll sit down to share one casserole for lunch, with the rest delivered to Second Story, ensuring participants experience both the joy of cooking and the fulfillment of giving back.
At FPBS, fun and meaning go hand in hand. Every program is shaped not only by creativity but also by collaboration—with input from self-advocates who help guide and inspire what we do. Together, we’re proving that Mondays don’t have to be dreaded. With a little imagination and a lot of heart, Mondays can be a day of purpose, connection, and positivity.
